The End of Our Trip!

Monday, June 27th, 2011

Goodbye for now! from all of us………

From Flores (we met our German friends again before leaving), we doubled backed on ourselves through Sumbawa and Lombok and returned to Bali - a journey which took us 36 hours non-stop in all. In the absence of an Australian visa for the moment (while Anne has TB which needs to be continually treated - remaining medically unapproved to continue our trip) and all of us seriously out of pocket - we needed to return home.

Following 13.5 months on the road, we’ve had a fantastic year and achieved everything and much more together as a family - an experience which will remain with us and which we will never forget. Our children needing the joys of proper routine, school, friends and family again (us adults needing jobs!), our eldest daughter is also expecting our third grandchild during August of this year. With time and money running out and an all important new addition on the way, we returned home to the UK during mid-May 2011.

Our car has just landed - having followed us from Bali via Surabaya and Singapore to Felixstowe. We plan to sell our vehicle & are now busy settling ourselves into our old lives again.

Landing at Heathrow felt like we’d never been away at all - like we’d just been away for the weekend - had we really just spent 13.5months away from home and driven from the UK to Flores?

With love, best wishes and huge thanks to all who supported us and followed our trip.

Bye for now!
