Bear Country!!! Transylvania 4X4 Tours
Wednesday, June 17th, 2009
Following contact a while back, overland friends need to know where Paul White of Transylvania 4X4 Tours is based and what can be offered en route if travelling through Romania.
Many passing overlanders arrive here from Bran (Dracula’s castle!) via Brasov. The village of Ojdula lies at the base of the Vrancea mountains, on the longer but far more scenic route to the Danube Delta.
Paul offers tours (bear spotting included), a pit stop for overlanders en route who want to camp for a night or two and a British mechanic who can provide servicing, repair and provide advice. Perfect for us! However, even if simply passing by and want to stop by for a chat, cup of tea and wanting to service their own vehicle, then you are welcome to use Paul’s workshop free of charge. A noticeboard is available for guests to leave messages for friends following in their path or other travellers in the area wishing to hitch a ride. We are planning to pass by on our route next year.
Nothing better than the experience of others though so, please check out Ollie and Jen’s recent visit there http://www.jollyfollies.com/Diary/048_Roaming_in_Romania.html - where you can also link to Paul’s own blog update there.
Paul’s website is: http://www.transylvania4×4tours.com or you can contact him by email at: office@transylvania4×4tours.com (AND - if anyone happens to pass by before we leave to visit ourselves next year - PLEASE LEAVE US A MESSAGE ON PAUL’S NOTICEBOARD!!!!!!!

Hi,
The latest news on this situation is that I have been called to a meeting by a regional politician to discuss the matter further. I know they have a keen interest in what is going on as they are trying to attract more western tourists and companies to this area. They have used my images on their official tourist brochures, so this kind of underhand activity will not help their advertising campaign. We are still uncertain who is behind this, but hope to get to the bottom of this soon.
I have recently moved my blog to the following address for those wanting to keep up with proceedings.

Although we have suspended business operations we are happy for people to camp in our garden if they are passing through.
Regards
Paul White

Hi there,
We just had a wonderful all-in trip with a guy in a huge Ford Excursion with our 4 kids. My partner and I are convinced that this is the only way to travel going forward! We are trying to book a holiday April 16th - 23rd and were wondering what you could do for us. We will be 6 adults and 5 kids. More if you can accomodate us.
Let me know what kind of tour you would be able to offer us. We will be coming from Boston and were hoping to enjoy some off-season rates that time of year.
Thanks!

This page appears to get a good ammount of visitors. How do you advertise it? It offers a nice individual twist on things. I guess having something authentic or substantial to talk about is the most important thing.
