Overland with Kids

We’ve been busy bees and have lot’s to tell and update you about - as well as some photos to share. Anything from our visit to Spain, our vehicle mechanics training, off road caravan towing course, Andrew having passed his practical assessment for Australian visa (we’re now onto actually applying for the Independant Skilled Based Visa itself except we are 5 points short and will require Australian state sponsorship as a result), the arrival of Pesky and rod puppets plus our visit to Foley’s in preparation for our vehicle fit out which begins mid-May.

Right now however, we are busy with more pressing matters and that is as follows:

We’re attending our local May Day fete and have decided to do a balloon release to kick off our fund-raising campaign. We’ve set-up a page we’ll be using to update you on how we get on together with progress regarding any balloon race labels found.

Balloon release will be Bank Holiday Monday 4th May 2009, St Mary’s Church, Eaton Socon Green, St Neots, Cambridgeshire PE19 8EJ. The release will take place at 4.30pm so if you haven’t entered yet and/or are in the area, please come and join us and show your support. Only £1 per balloon! But, you’ll need to come at least a couple of hours beforehand to ‘try our wares’ (helping us raise even more money!) whilst ensuring you have time to buy and enter your balloon. Amongst other stall holders, we’ll have our very own stall full of activities (Splat That Pesky Rat, Guess How Many Pesky Rats are in the Jar, make your own 2-minute stick puppet), goodies (sweet chocolate mice and lollipops) and prizes (including copies of Lauren Child’s book That Pesky Rat for sale at £5.99 per copy). We will also be celebrating the arrival of Pesky (we are launching our especially commissioned adult-size Pesky Rat character as part of our campaign in raising awareness for Educational Aid for deprived children around the world). Pesky will perform the balloon release launch and we’ll also be bringing along our especially designed rod puppets plus hand puppets taking part in the show - as well as handing out leaflets about our forthcoming puppet shows later this year. Tickets for the forthcoming shows will be available for sale on the day.
