That Pesky Rat Puppet Show/s

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

The children’s author Lauren Child (of Charlie and Lola fame), has provided us non-exclusive rights to perform a series of amateur puppet show performances, based on her story of That Pesky Rat.

The main purpose of the shows is to raise funds for our children’s school in support of Educational Aid for Moldovan Street Children’s Projects - specifically it’s strong links with a school based in Burcalu, Moldova.

The shows will be held at St Mary’s Church, Eaton Socon, St Neots, Cambridgeshire with a planned audience of 100 people per performance (including children) on the following dates and times:

2009
October - Friday 23rd (7pm), Saturday and Sunday 24th & 25th (3pm)
November - Friday 20th (7pm), Saturday and Sunday 21st & 22nd (3pm)
December - Thursday 31st - (3pm & 7pm)

2010
January - Saturday and Sunday 9th & 10th (3pm)

Following each performance there will be refreshments (profits to be donated to the Church) and an opportunity to

  • Learn more about Pesky’s campaign to help deprived children around the world (the author Lauren Child’s special edition version of That Pesky Rat will also hopefully be available @ £5.99 with all profits from the publisher Hachette Books going to Unesco’s Programme for the Education of Children in Need)
  • Learn more about Jess and AJ’s school’s strong school links and Educational Aid involvment with the school in Burcalu, Moldova - (main purpose of the shows of which all profits from the ticket sales will be donated)
  • Meet Pesky, the puppets and puppeteers
  • Buy and make your own simple paper-craft puppets
  • Enter a raffle to help further raise funds for the causes we are involved

Tickets only £3 (per adult/child) but feel free to donate more! If you’d like to attend, please contact us and we will arrange to get tickets to you. We have alot to organise, beginning with a life size Pesky Rat costume for the show which we plan to have specially made.  In addition we will be using full hand sized puppets for the show. Then, there are props, lighting, promotional ideas etc. so if you can help us in any way, please get in touch. We would love your support especially if you are in our neck of the woods around the time that we perform the shows. Please come along and show your support if you can.
