Roof Tent Debate

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Hannibal, Eezi-Awn or Howling Moon? and there are others! Decisions, decisions and the debate between them could go on forever re: pros and cons of each. There does not seem to be much of a difference between and they are all desirable. Many of the exhibitors and campers at Billing were using to sleep in so clearly [...]

Visit to Billing

Saturday, July 19th, 2008

Finally, after hearing much about the famous Land Rover Billing Exhibition, we finally made it there. It was very impressive and easily one of the nicest exhibitions we’ve been to. Usually it can be pandamonium but not here -nice surroundings, easy to get to, a doddle to park, loads of exhibitors, plenty to do, see & buy and [...]

Reality Check

Monday, July 7th, 2008

We have come to a bit of a standstill with preparation at present - not for want but simply to re-gather and re-prioritise our resources. We both work full-time and so our first priority must remain in the real every day world with our children as number one priority. Both Jessica and AJ are transitioning into Primary [...]

The Hubb

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Found a fantastic site endearingly known as ‘The Hubb’ which many long distance travellers subscribe to. It’s part of www.horizonsunlimited.com/hubb and we’d recommend anyone considering or needing advice regardng routes, carnets, anything to go and have a look. Initially set-up as a forum for long-distance motorcycle travellers, there is a huge amount of really useful [...]

Doing it for Charity

Monday, July 7th, 2008

We are very lucky to have our health and a lovely family. These facts coupled with our home, ability to be able to work and live in a well-developed country are nothing short of blessings. We are under no illusions that whilst on our travels we will probably hanker for the familiarity of home, those [...]

Battle Begins! - Children’s Schooling versus Travel

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Our children actually ‘run’ into school every day - they love school so much they can’t wait to get there and are always full of experiences and stories about their day. It is an amazing thing to witness and a great start each morning before dragging ourselves to work. Hometime is great also because we know [...]

1st CouchSurf Guests

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

It is possible we might have the privilege of hosting our first couch surfers next week - a 63 year American dad and his teenage daughter who ‘might’ fly in this weekend to the UK via an RAF flight to Mildenhall.  We are not really set-up to receive guests ourselves yet but have agreed to [...]

Applying for Australian Visas

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

The debate is on as to whether we should apply for Independant Skilled Australian Work Visas. We are both under 45, are on the skills list and qualify (by the skin of our teeth) for the points required. The issue is the cost of application and then having to fly to Australia to validate at [...]

Wwoofing our way around the world

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

Have been looking at www.wwoof.org - a worldwide organisation or willing workers opportunities on organic farms. Not sure if it will be for us with children but definately worth looking into in more detail. Basically involves working as a volunteer on farms across Europe and the world in exchange for food and accommodation, usually as [...]
