Australian Visas - Costs Update

Wednesday, August 20th, 2008

We have just parted with some cash in order to undertake the Preliminary Skills Assessment with the migration specialist and are now moving to Stage 2 of our application. This is where we must commit much more serious money and to Andrew actually undergoing the fomal Skills Assessment itself - a written and practical excercise. So far, we have made 3 payments as follows:

  £317.25 Preliminary  (stage 1)

  £846.00 Skills Assessment (stage 2)

  $600.00USD Skills Assessment fee

  $1,500.00USD Practical Skills Assessment/Test fee

£20 Certified solicitor copies of references, passport etc.

£1183.25 Total (incl. VAT) + $2,100.00USD

We have been told that total cost (all 4 of us) will be around £5,000 via the migration specialist plus flight costs to then validate visas for a further 5 years before actually leaving on our overland trip. We hope that no-one tells us later that we could have done this another way (gulp!).
