Educational Websites

There are some great on-line educational websites available. Jessica already logs onto the cbbc website now and again and we performed a trial enrollment in the Telegraph’s Grid Club - both Jessica and AJ really enjoyed. The reality however is that this is not a method of educational resource we normally use - not knocking it - but both Jess and AJ are usually too busy outside on bikes or in the garden.  Plus, we have plenty of manual resources such as hand-writing practice, drawings, reading, spelling and maths to keep us busy.  We envisage having  only one highly utilised semi-ruggedised laptop while on the road to keep as much information electronically as possible e.g. photos, route & education plans, excercises and diary updates - and, apart from regular weekly website downloads of what we’ve done and where we are, we don’t want to rely on internet availability as a major resource.  We thought maybe some pre-loaded resources might be good and will investigate but will consider the use of e.g. Gameboy which is highly portable, enjoyable and has may have some suitable educational options available - also easy to re-charge, stave off boredom while driving for long periods. Jess and AJ have only one between them at present which causes lots of fights. This is purposeful however to learn value of sharing, considerstion and taking turns. But, think we will stretch to buying another one while on the road to ensure they don’t suffer on long journeys unduly!
